Big Al and the Red Canvas Feet, A Dog-Gone Adventure, is my second venture into the wonderful world of book writing. Based upon the tremendous success of book #1, it only seemed right to try it all again. Button, A Forever Friend, published in 2009 served what I deem a grand purpose. She has raised thousands of dollars to help defray the mounting expenses experienced daily by Humane Society/Animal Shelters. Button is still going strong and for those who know little about her or her story you can go online to www.buttonthebook.com to learn more.
Button was about a cat and this new story is about a dog, and in both cases the support people this author leans on have brought a passion to the work too. A completed book is always far more than a one person effort. Once again, I have relied on the first draft input of my friend Diane and the copy-edit expertise of Dr. Dixie Saylor. Front page title and back page copy were again turned over to the capable hands of Graham Van Dixhorn and his Write To Your Market group. The production aspects were smoothly handled by Christopher and his staff at PPC Books Inc. This time around, I understood more of what the process involved and PPC Books stood with me every step of the way.
A lot of the excitement in this new book revolves around the illustrations. I searched for several months to find someone who had the talent and vision to capture the characters in the story. Not an easy task. Although she had never done illustrations for a book, Holly Jones stepped up and in my mind hit a home run. After an early draft reading and in subsequent meetings, I could tell she had a real grasp of what I was looking for. She is an extremely talented artist and animal lover, and I am thrilled to have her as a new member of our team. As Graham Van Dixhorn said one day...”Collaboration and agreement... Hmmmm.... Good Karma for this book.”
Get the whole story about the book and all who helped put it together by hitting the internet and www.redcanvasfeet.com. The book also will be featured on the all books website www.thealternativebookshop.com. Our purpose again is to raise money for the animals. A portion of the money raised from the sales of this book will go to Humane Society/Animal Shelters. I hope you will enjoy the story of Big Al. He is quite an interesting fellow.
